President Xi Jinping arrived in Hong Kong at around 3:10 p.m. on June 30.

Since Hong Kong's return to the motherland in 1997, every fifth and tenth anniversary has been celebrated with the inauguration of a new SAR government. Five years ago, President Xi made a special trip to Hong Kong on the 20th anniversary of Hong Kong's return to the motherland.

Unlike five years ago when he arrived by special plane, this time President Xi came by special train.

Hong Kong West Kowloon Station, the starting station of the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong Express Rail Link, is also a microcosm of the vigorous construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. after the opening of the Hong Kong section of the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong Express Rail Link on September 23, 2018, 44 stations in the Mainland can be reached by high-speed rail from West Kowloon Station, and Hong Kong is thus connected to the national high-speed rail network.


On that day, red carpets, bright flags and surging bouquets of flowers expressed the enthusiasm of Hong Kong people at the Hong Kong West Kowloon Station. At the welcome ceremony, the 80-member Hong Kong Police Force Band played a welcome song. This is a "veteran" band with a history of over 70 years. Because the instruments they use are silver, so they are also known as "Silver Band".



Hong Kong has the custom of lion dance for every major event. At the scene, 18 lion dancers jumped for joy, including both southern and northern lions. Among the hundreds of representatives from all walks of life who were there to welcome the event were dozens of primary school students from Hong Kong's Wong Cho Bau School. The children waved flags and flowers to welcome President Xi and his party.
